In 1965 I fought against women’s hours, which required college women to be in their dorms by 11:00 p.m. at Indiana University, while men were allowed to roam free all night. I’ve been married to a strident feminist since 1967, and recommend that path to anyone. So I’m reasonably well versed in feminist culture over the years.How to Be a Woman, by Caitlin Moran, is, hands down, the best source on feminism I’ve ever encountered. It surely helps that it is hilarious. It also helps that at least half the barbs are directed at herself, and most of the rest at other women. (Actually, she lets men off pretty easy.) She is shockingly frank about all sorts of socially unacceptable conduct in which she has engaged, such as binge drinking, drug use and promiscuity. But shining through is a deep understanding of things that women routinely experience from puberty through early middle age, and how to live and grow through them. Again and again she raises up values I value.To make it appropriate to all genders, I would restate her best known quote as: Feminism is believing that if you have a vagina you should be in charge of it.Her championing of guilt-free abortion is radical, finding it just as appropriate as deciding to bear a child. "By whatever rationale you use, ending a pregnancy 12 weeks into gestation is incalculably more moral than bringing an unwanted child into this world." She quotes a like minded friend: “It’s one of the top four best things I ever did—after marrying my husband, having my son, and getting a fixed quote on the loft conversion.”The trauma of her first pubic hairs resonates, I assure my female friends, quite fully with me as a male.I’m not sure quite how old young people should be before reading this book. It does unabashedly relate experiences that will make parents (and grandparents, teachers, etc.) cringe. But I’m not sure that it makes those experiences attractive, and much of what I know of those from 15 to 25 makes me think their culture normalizes such tales so universally that this book only puts them in a real world context that is OK with me. Such stories will be surely old hat to the bulk of college sophomores, and probably to many a high schooler, and too many in middle school.I’m not sure quite how liberated adults should be before reading this book. I surely have friends who will be shocked that I would recommend such trash. But I do. One person’s trash is another’s treasure. This book is a rare treasure.

You're a feminist.”I read this book as part of a feminist reading club on Goodreads. I had never really thought about being a feminist before. In fact, a feminist to me sounded like one of those red-faced, angry women protesting about something or the other, and always bitching about men. But guess what, being a feminist is about understanding yourself as a woman and defining the role you want to play for yourself in your own life. It's about taking control, it's about asserting our freedoms, and it's about celebrating our interactions with men in a way that is satisfying and fulfilling for both.Caitlin Moran tells her story in a relatable, humorous, and often irreverent style that did make me stop and think about many issues. Some of her life choices may be questionable, especially in the culture I was raised in, but hey, that's exactly the point. She can --and should-- choose what she believes is right for herself. In the end, I found her courageous for speaking things many of us will shy away from, and to find humor in it too.

As a 50 year old woman I can look back on my life and see how this book would have been VERY useful to read at age 15. It does not matter if your life is parallel to Ms. Moran's - or not. Actually, that's the point. For once we have a brave woman who is putting her experience out there for the world to see (and laugh about). I applaud her. Anyone who condemns her, condemns her because they are not as brave, honest or true to themselves. As women we have been dictated on how to behave by mostly religious and political members - that have been predominantly men. We need to unapologetically break the glass ceiling and feel the cool wind of change upon our faces. Ms. Moran reminiscences about the confusion of being an adolescent woman through humor, intelligence and tact. It is a journey I thoroughly enjoyed.

"When the subject turns to abortion, cosmetic intervention, birth, motherhood, sex, love, work, misogyny, fear, or just how you feel in your own skin, women still often won't tell the truth to each other unless they are very, very drunk."Caitlin Moran is right. Nowadays, you DO have to be drunk. The last time I heard a female friend relate anything even remotely personal was when L. had too much wine at book club and really tore into her deadbeat ex-husband. (Seriously, you earn $98,000 a year but can't pay child support? You JERK!)older women who were returning to finish degrees that had been nudged aside for marriage and family. Those broads rocked my world and led me away from the path of righteousness, and I THANK THEM every day for doing so. Thirty years have slipped by, and I've yet to find another group of women to whom I can say ANYTHING and not be judged. And, man, do I ever miss that! Now, if you talk about S-E-X, it's deemed T-M-I. Why is wanting to talk about something we all do too much information? Why does no one wants to go there?Well, Ms. Moran GOES THERE. From pubic hair (Yes!) to high heels (No!), she lets it all hang out. And what fun it was spending time with her. Though a continent and more than a decade separate us, I may possibly have more in common w/ Moran than any woman I've met in real life. I found her let-your-freak-flag-fly message to be reassuring, entertaining and pants-wettingly funny. Not everyone will like her, or her book. And that's okay. If even thinking about the f-word makes you blush, if you've never concocted an imaginary relationship with a male celebrity, or if you've never touched yourself "down there," put the book down and back away.If you're like me, you'll love it.Being a woman . . . after all these years, I'm pretty sure I've been doing it right.

I was upset to leave Sheila at the end of book one. She was only six... so I was excited to continue reading about her in The Tiger's Child. it was very real to life... but also satisfying to know the outcome.

When I first heard about TIGER'S CHILD, I knew that I had to read it to find out what had happened to Sheila. I was not disappointed. I found that Sheila had carried a great deal of anger around with her all these years toward Torey for "showing her the good life and then deserting her just like her mother had." This rather dumb-founded Torey, because she was just doing what all teachers do at the end of a school year--saying good-bye to her students and moving on. Torey had to work very hard in this book to build up a trust level again. Sheila was not going to make this easy. However, the ending was satisfying; and we are left knowing that Sheila will be all right. I don't know how Torey makes her writing such compelling reading. I could not put the book down--even when I needed to look at scenery on a vacation. I recommend this book to anyone who needs a heart-warming read.

Nothing could compare to One Child, but this gave me the closure I needed.

Love Torey Haydens books. I read this in one evening and I must say she is a saint with so much patience with the mentally challenged children.

My most favorite author in the entire world. Her book is captivating. I could not put it down until I had finished reading it. What an inspiration this woman is to me both in my personal life and in my professional life working with children. I highly highly recommend this book and ANY book written by Torey Hayden.

Unputdownable! I read it aloud to my father and we enjoyed it together. Great sequel to the author's book "One Child."

Would not have guessed this ending but happy Sheila has found her place in the world. Hopefully she finds a spouse who will show her what real love is about.

My 15-month-old daughter who is very active and is currently not into books *loved* this book. She squealed with delight every time she found Momo in the photographs. The photography itself is beautiful and aesthetically pleasing for both children and adults. If anyone knows of similar books, I'd buy them immediately!The first book started falling apart in the binding two days after completely normal use. The second one is in the same shape after three days. I really wish we could have this book but without such a huge fault in production.

This is a wonderful book! My 2yo finds the pictures exciting, and the hidden objects are also in a great combination of easy to find, and a little more challenging for a 2yo. There's something for little ones to get excited about on every page. Plus, what 2yo doesn't love looking for a cute dog! BUT, the book started falling apart after just 2 weeks of totally age appropriate, not horribly rough use. The binding isn't flexible enough as most board books are, and doesn't have enough give to open the book all the way, so just 10 or so times of opening the book all the way and 3 of the board pages just fell right out in a chunk. It's still a much beloved book in my house, so I did some repair work with clear packing tape, but that just shouldn't be necessary 2 weeks after first opening a new book.

The concept of the book is absolutely wonderful. My 15 month old daughter LOVES this book and we "read" it multiple times per day. It's a perfect first search and find book for toddlers. The problem is the book itself... This is our fourth copy, all of which either came with pages falling out or tore within 24 hours, despite gentle handling. Make sure you have a good supply of book repair tape.UPDATE: We've had this copy of the book for 48 hours and I've already had to repair three different pages. For a book made for the youngest audience, this one should have been much sturdier.

I love the content and execution of this book! Momo is adorable and the pictures are fun and engaging for a child. My daughter is a little over 1 and out of the blue started waving to Momo in the pictures and then pointing him out. Helps that we also have a border collie :DUnfortunately the construction of this book is really subpar. It has never been mistreated and normally we, the parents, are the ones handling the book. I applied fixes multiple times in the past few weeks for binding issues and then yesterday the first 4 boards of the book just stopped being bound to the back half of the book. The spine is still intact, but the interior pages are no longer connected. It will just get worse and will likely end up hand binding it which is kind of disappointing, but seems the only way to make it last.

This book is great!! My toddler loves it! (Especially because we too have a Border Collie.) The pictures are wonderful, and the right challenge for the target age group. I was glad to have a cardboard version of Momo's book :) We're fans!

My 1.5 year old LOVES this, and my three year old likes to find the additional items. There is also a bonus teddy bear to be found on every page (I think--haven't found him on a few pages yet...). I like the beauty of the photos--the photographer's sense of aesthetics is breathtaking in each picture. Would highly recommend for your own children or as a gift.

My 20 month old daughter LOVES this book! She loves dogs and our dog is black and white (Boston Terrier) so he looks similar to Momo. She cheerfully finds him and shouts "MOMO!" on every page. She's starting to get good at finding the other items on the page too. It's a great book for her age. She can find Momo and other things but she's still learning and it's challenging for her. We are very happy to add this to our book collection!

I bought this book to send to my 16-year old daughter while she was away at summer camp. It didn't matter that it is a children's book geared toward young toddlers and first time readers. It was MOMO!!! She was THRILLED to have it! Andrew Knapp - along with his border collie Momo - did an amazing job with their first children's book. It is fun and colorful and full of crisp, beautiful photos. Based on the same premise as his other (grown-up) photo books - Find Momo and Find Momo Coast to Coast - Knapp captures Momo hiding is silly places that will have children laughing with delight. You must get this book! Children will fall in love with Momo in this board book, and as they grow you can move on to Knapp & Momo's other wonderful books. The photography and their adventures will wow you!

I did every question in this book. I passed the NCLEX the first time with 89 questions. The Rationales are very descriptive and help you understand exactly what the question was asking. This is the only resource I used and the price is very reasonable compared to other options.

Great book, used it ALONE and passed nclex in one try, minimum questions and 30 minutes back in 2014. Bought this new edition for my sister to practice for her nursing classes.

I have been using this as well as other books and programs to prep for the NCLEX. While using this book on Kindle I have come across multiple rationals that either have typos or incorrect information when I check with other texts. Overall it seems to be a decent prep book, but the mistakes make me doubt the information provided.

Great study tool. Questions are more challenging than expected coming from made increase easy series (in a good way).
