This book was not easy to understand and it had not enough explanation on subjects we were going through. My classmates had the same impression. You can skip reading words and try figuring out the numbers. Not a good book!

One of the best books on DSP along with its companion Book "Signal Processing First", Oppenheim's "Signals & Systems" and "Discrete-time Signal Processing" are the "must have" if you want to study in the field of signal processing. Intuitive, easy to read yet it includes all math details. Better than Richard Lyons' "Understanding DSP", if you are mathematically inclined, in my opinion. Highly recommended!

This textbook intimidated me when I first opened it, however now that I'm 75% of way through my signal analysis course I can say it actually is good book....Someone with strong mathematical skills and a mind for programming could easily teach themselves DSP from this book - I am happy that I have a good professor to help the learning process....But overall- good textbook

I recently had my computer automatically updated to windows 10 and it caused me few issues that I had to fix. I stumbled upon this book while looking for information and it fixed my problems, plus gave me some more insight about this OS. It is talking about Win10 from the installation, upgrading, backing up files and much more. I really liked idea that you can downgrade to your previous windows if you don't like newest versio, but after fixing my problems I decided to stay with it.

Truly a beginner's manual. Contains some explanations but does not teach you about Win 10. This is introductory and doesn't really "teach" you anything. Better to buy a teaching manual that actually shows you and explains in detail the many things you need to know and understand to use Win 10.

Using Albert North Whitehead's linguistic creation of the idea of 'prehenson', Shoop makes her case that what happens to us in life is cut deep in the grooves of physical memory. Our bodies know what has happened to us before our minds are able to analyze it.Shoop uses three experiences - rape, pregnancy and motherhood - to move us through a theological reflection on the worship life of the Christian Church.In reading her book I became aware for the first time intellectually why it is some things are difficult to explain. Some experiences can only be danced - tragically or triumphantly; they simply cannot ever be adequately described.

Powerful theology of the body and how to heal

This was perhaps the most interesting book I've read all year..Shoop tackles three different areas, rape, pregnancy, and motherhood and then develops each one in terms of tragic bodies, relational bodies, and ambiguous bodies.She then talks about how each of those embodiments encourage compassion, interdependence,and adventure.As a man I felt a bit uncomfortable at times reading LET THE BONES DANCE, but the author's call to involve our bodies in all of worship is a welcome one, and certainly a needed one.Well worth reading.

Mount-Shoop takes a terrible sexual violation as a young teen and a long debilitating pregnancy as a young wife to shape a construct that is very useful not only to feminist theology but to all of us and many situations. She maintains that violence and tragedy have the potential to make a person compassionate; pregnancy comes from relationship and fosters intimacy; motherhood creates ambiguity but amazingly ambiguity forces one to be innovative. Compassion, intimacy and innovation are precisely what this world needs from each of us. Even people who have not been sexually violated can relate to tragedy; the same with pregnancy--even if a person has never had children if they have been in relationship they know intimacy. But the most profound conclusion is that raising children creates ambiguity. The genius of the construct is that Mount-Shoop asserts that ambiguity leads us to be innovative. There are so many things for which there is no evident answer or solution. Innovation is the only positive road to take.

Marcia Mount Shoop exploits a mountain of biological information to paint a picture of the female body (especially as it negotiates its way through rape, pregnancy, and motherhood), not as a well-oiled machine but as an ingenious, almost magical self that feels its way forward in an ambiguous,interdependent world and underlies the so-called rational,historical self. She poetically parlays the implications of this self into a theology of compassion, interdependence,and adventure, then offers a critique of worship in the Reformed tradition to make room for a new worship that involves more of the self she has sketched. Often her chapters are preceded by poems of her own creation, which employ stunning language such as a reference to Mary's cervix. Even those who have some acquaintance with feminist writing will find this book eye-opening.

When I began reading Whale Talk, I thought I would be reading a story about a teenager struggling to put together a swim team at his very athletically-driven high school (as suggested by the synopsis). What I ended up reading, however, was a story about perseverance, acceptance, tolerance, love, and sacrifice.Crutcher's protagonist, T.J. Jones, is a rare gem of a character. Having survived an early childhood of neglect and being the target of racism in his mostly white school, T.J. has plenty of reasons to be angry. However, he remains stoic in the face of adversity, refusing to rise to the racial taunts of his enemies. In fact, what makes him such a wonderful character is that his indignation and sense of justice are not reserved for himself but for others who fall outside the scope of the "in" crowd. His effort to put together a swim team is driven by an injustice he witnesses towards another classmate. In a school driven by athletics, he walks a precarious slope with the individuals on his team who fit plenty of categories--mentally challenged, handicapped, mute, overweight--except athletic. Still, T.J.'s drive and determination help whip this group of misfits into a competitive swim team in no time flat.Of course, from the arc of the swim team come many other compelling story lines--abuse, death, racism, and forgiveness. Crutcher seamlessly weaves these threads into the story by putting T.J. front and center. By witnessing and even participating in other characters' difficulties--the racial abuse inflicted upon a five-year-old girl of mixed race, the tragedy of his father's past, the sexual abuse suffered by one of his teammates--T.J. is better able to put his own life into perspective with guidance from his loving adoptive parents and his therapist.Although the last 20 pages or so stray into melodrama, this book is powerful on so many levels. Images--the deer, the Brillo pad--will stay with the reader long after the book has been closed. At the core of its message is the idea that no one really knows what difficulties others are facing, a poignant message given the times we live in.

Great book. Especially pertinent for this time when we seem to see issues of tolerance all over the place. I am 56 and loved it, and I think jr high and high schoolers would enjoy it. Some bad language, but nothing kids haven’t heard... and they know they have to decide whether that will be part of who they want to be or not.

Growing up is not an easy assignment, high school is not always comfortable and w adults sometimes forget what happens there. A wonderful book, by a fantastic author. Forgiveness is a skill that many of us try to learn, but do not always make the grade.

My 13 year old had to read this for Summer reading. He loved the pace and level of language. This is the first book in a while that he actually engaged enough to be upset with the ending and able to articulate why

This is a story about a mixed race kid, supposedly. In truth it is about the family and town he grew up in. Grow he did. Well written.

Love this book - I am a high school Special Education teacher and I read this with my students - the content opens so many doors to communicating with my students about relevant and real issues faced by teens in high school. Highly recommend the book. Quick shipping and zero problems......

The books warms the heart, infuriates, teaches, and opens the eyes of any reader that picks this book up.The Tao Jones is a mixed race character who is adopted from a drug-addicted mother. Tao is taken in by a truck driving dad and lawyer mother who are just about the coolest parents on earth, but they aren't without their own baggage.Whale Talk is a masterfully woven tale that traces Tao through his struggles in a racist society that is also a little elitist. Tao, like most of Crutcher's protagonists, is a great athlete with a strange sense of humor. Tao enjoys getting even with those who single out he, or any other character in the high school that is different, by using the predators' ignorance against them.All in all, this is an honest portrayal of a complex mix of race, family secrets and small town routines held up by the Good Ol' Boy system along with serious developmental pshychological issues.This book will make you laugh, it will make you cry, but most importantly, it will make you examine your inner-most being in ways that will surprise you.Chris Crutcher is the undisputed King of YA Literature, which he proves with his most powerful YA novel to date.

I finished this book an hour ago and I am already going through withdrawal.I lagged. I cried. But most of all, I felt could relate. This book is so real!If I could quote every sentence in a separate line, I would. The author is that good!!Amazing read, everyone!! This book is at the top of my list of suggestions.
